I often see the question asked in forums, “Is it ok to buy one way links?” With search engine ranking being so competitive the temptation to buy one way links is great. But, to improve your page rank you need many incoming links and therefore it is usually uneconomical.
One way links are the best way to increase a sites link popularity. One way links are links to your site from sites which do not receive a link back from your site.
What about reciprocal links? Matt Cutts of Google made it plain in his blog that Google frowns upon sites which “overdo” reciprocal links and as I’ve already said you need many incomming links to improve your page rank.
Reciprocal linking alone would not get you ranked well on the search engines because sometime back everyone figured out the value of reciprocal linking and so many professional SEO companies abused the practice by setting up large reciprocal linking programmes thereby diluting their importance.
Search engines such as Google place a lot of importance on one way incomming links when ranking your site. Along with inbound links, relevant anchor text, the actual text in the clickable part of the link, is also very important in the linking process.
Articles are one way, in your SEO link building strategies, of building one way links without buying them. When you write the article you include an About the Author section in which you can post a link back to your blog. You then submit your article to a few different article websites such as Ezine Articles and GoArticles.
These article sites in turn allow other website owners to download your article and post it as content onto their website. One of the rules is that anyone that posts your article must include the About the Author (resource box) section which has your link in it. I have personally found many blogs using my articles without the resource box and therefore no link to my site.
Another option is to buy backlinks.
Article submission is still very usefull for one way links, but it’s difficult, it’s slow, and let’s face it, it’s boring!
