Everyone has to have car insurance. I suppose there could be a few exceptions but generally if you get caught driving without insurance you’re going to be a lot of trouble. Most states, like the one I live in, Oregon, requires that you have insurance on your vehicle at all times you can’t even register your vehicle without car insurance.
It is a requirement that if you purchase a new automobile or truck or anything you drive that you make payments on you have to have full coverage insurance on it. However, those that own a car or truck outright can choose what they want, and some go with liability insurance only. This is very inexpensive, but not always the best idea.
Most car insurance policies automatically have liability insurance enclosed in them. This is used when you are responsible for an accident or any damage to car or even life.
This is the bare minimum that you can get when you buy. If you didn’t have liability insurance and got into an accident, you would be responsible for all the damages out of your pocket. If you have the liability insurance, your insurance company has to pay, though you may have a deductible that you must pay on your own. It is truly dependent on your policy coverage in your insurance company.
If it is your determination to just acquire liability insurance, your insurance company won’t be obliged to give you any money to get your vehicle fixed if somebody else does the damage. They should, by rights, have liability insurance as well, and that money will come from their insurance company. Nonetheless, you never know what is going on with anyone on the road, and some do drive without insurance. if a person driving without insurance got into an accident with you would be out of luck getting any money out of them.
if worse came to worst, you could take them to court and sue them but chances are if they can’t afford to buy liability insurance they won’t be able to afford a judgment that is registered against them either.
If you can afford it, it is always the best option to have full coverage insurance on your vehicle but sometimes this option is just way too expensive. Lots of times kids just starting out life, have this bare minimum coverage, but they also don’t have a vehicle that’s worth very much. As they get older though, and become more able to afford higher-priced cars, it is a really good idea to have more than just your ordinary liability insurance. When purchasing any type of insurance it is always a good idea to think about and plan for things that could happen so that you’re ready when something bad does happen and have an adequate amount of coverage.
If it is in your ability always try to get the most possible coverage for yourself because if you ever need it you won’t regret it.
